Homeless Shelters and Services
Turn to the Davidson County First Hope Ministries when you’re in need. We provide homeless shelters and services in Davidson County, NC, to those who need a warm place to stay the night, hot meals, and more.
We operate an adult homeless shelter that can accommodate up to 48 men and 16 women, and a family shelter, called Genesis House, that can accommodate as many as 7 families. Hot meals are served every night.
Our emergency food pantry provides food to citizens of Davidson County. You can qualify for food assistance once every six months. Visit the Davidson County Department of Social Services first and ask for an emergency voucher for you and your family. Please bring that information to our office, and you’ll receive a seven-day emergency supply of food.
The bulk of the food in our pantry is provided to individuals and families every year during the Annual USPS Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive in May. However, citizens of Davidson County and local churches deliver food donations to our pantry weekly.
In addition to food, the pantry also provides common household items, such as diapers, wipes, adult diapers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and deodorant. Please note that these are high-demand items and are not always available.
The Davidson County First Hope Ministries also provides free new and gently used clothing to residents of the shelter and citizens of Davidson County. Citizens of Davidson County can visit the closet once every three months. All clothing in the free clothing closet has been donated by local citizens.
In addition to our shelters, food pantry, and clothing closet, we also provide case management for individuals that need help looking for jobs, disability, medical help, mental health, and more. Additionally, we provide representative payee services to help individuals pay their rent, food, doctor visits, and more. We also work with other agencies to see that the community and residents receive the best possible opportunities.
